On the starting day of your tour, AmazonTravel can arrange pickup for the airport, bus station, or your Hotel to the AmazonTravel offices, where your guide will go over details and safety precautions about your trip before departing at 10:00 a.m. from the marina. We’ll travel by motorized canoe with all the necessary security about 2.5 hours down the impressive Napo River to the community cabins we’ll be staying at. After Check In and a brief induction of your stay, lunch will be served followed by our first jungle walk to observe local birds and monkeys. Finally returning to the lodge for dinner and rest of the evening.
Breakfast will be served at 05:30 a.m. Around 6:30 a.m. we will visit incredible cliff-side salerdos then hike in the jungle in order to observe different species of monkeys, birds such as toucans, orioles, capuchin monkeys, and squirrel monkeys. On our hike, we will visit the parrot saladeros where more than 11 species of parrots and parakeets gather – this typically yields successful sightings.
We’ll return to the lodge for lunch. Our afternoon will include a walk to the 45 meter high observation tower where we’ll get a bird’s eye view of the jungle canopy and the creatures that live there. The tower will also give us a spectacular view of the land and sunset from the heart of Yasuní. Once the sun sets, we’ll continue our walk to see the more nocturnal species including frogs, other amphibians, reptiles, and insects, before ending back at the lodge for dinner and rest.
Breakfast will be served at 06:00 a.m. Afterwards, we’ll head back into the jungle to visit a Macaw saladero. Afterward, we will visit the Sani community where we will participate in cultural activities and learn about the community and eat a traditional lunch.
During the afternoon we will visit the Mandi Cocha lagoon where we’ll observe wildlife, fish for piranhas, and enjoy the water of the lagoon by canoe. At night we’ll spot for caimans before returning to the lodge.
Day 4
Breakfast will be served at 05:00 a.m; then we leave for El Coca with an arrival time of 09:00 am and transfer to the airport or your hotel.
