We’ll meet at 09:00 am at your hotel in El Coca by vehicle and head to Loreto to the Gran Cañón of Huataraco viewpoint. The Gran Cañón of Huataraco is a natural landscape nestled in the last remnants of the eastern Amazonian mountain range. From this point you’ll witness an impressive view of the Amazonian plain to the east of the entire Biosphere Reserve Yasuni and to the west you can see the eastern mountain range and among the most notable elevations are Cerro Galeras and the Sumaco and Antisana Volcanoes.
Here we’ll partake in short jungle walks, bird watching, visit the gallito de la peña waterfall, and Carachupa Pakcha waterfall. You’ll have the opportunity to do several different water activities here before we continue on to Canto Loreto where we’ll check-in at the hostería Ojo de Agua for the evening. This place is known for its viewing the Arapaima (Paiches) the largest fish of the Amazon reaching lengths of 3 meters!
The day starts at 07:00 am with breakfast. Afterward we’ll head to the Guami caverns and enjoy its natural formations. Next, we will visit the Pasohurco caverns to see the marine fossils of ancient animals, and the Cementerio de Elefantes.
We’ll take lunch in this sector before returning to Loreto.
