Limoncocha offers a unique opportunity to observe terrestrial, shoreline and aquatic wildlife and is the home to the fearsome black caiman. This natural area was declared a Biological Reserve by UNESCO in 1985, with an extension of 4,613 hectares.
Your adventure starts at 10:00 a.m. as we depart from the Malecón del Coca by motorized canoe. Our first stop is about a 5-minute up river to Yasuní Land, a nature park where we will see a 36-meter-high tower, during this journey we will see the giant ciebo trees. For lunch we’ll travel to the Maquita Kuy. After lunch we will navigate down the Napo river to the port of Pompeya. From here we’ll travel by vehicle to the Limoncocha Biological Reserve, where you will enjoy a exploring the Limoncocha lagoon to observe monkeys and hundreds of species of birds, such as the Hoatzin, Striped Heron, Snail Sparrowhawk. We’ll also try our luck at fishing for Piranhas.
As the day wanes you will witness an Amazonian sunset and we will begin sighting of nocturnal black caiman.
At 7:30 p.m.we’ll return to the city of Coca by vehicle and arrive around 9:00 p.m.
